Storefront Report: El Sereno shop to focus on the healing arts

El Sereno’s small healing arts center | Nathan Solis

El SERENO — The storefront at the northeast corner of Huntington Drive and Maycrest Avenue has been painted a bright shade of turquoise as the owners of Here And Now prepare to open what they call  a “healing arts center.” Owners Cat Uribe and Iris De Anda, both of El Sereno, plan to sell everything from teas and oils to crystals and candles in their new store, which will hold a grand opening on Sunday.

Here And Now is also considering workshops and classes that support self awareness and well being. Currently, the space is  hosting a poetry workshop, womens writing circle and a weekly “Meditation Sit.”

Uribe and Anda opened Here and Now “because it was something they had always dreamed of doing,” according to a statement they sent via email. “Each had their own practice in neighboring communities and decided it was time to bring this practice to El Sereno, their home.”
