- The City of Glendale has given the public more time to comment on plans to extend the life of the Scholl Canyon Landfill, the dump immediately north of Eagle Rock in the hills above the 134 Freeway. The Glendale News-Press reports the comment period has been extended until August 29. All vehicles traveling to the landfill must pass through Eagle Rock.
- The City Council has approved new planning and design guidelines for future development along the L.A. River but some Atwater Village residents don’t want their neighborhood included because the rules are too vague, says KCET.
- There are about 50 homeless encampments along the 110 Freeway/Arroyo Seco Parkway, says the Arroyo Seco Journal, which cited a map of the sites located on Caltrans right-of-way as well as local parks.
- Lincoln Park, once known as Eastlake Park, was home to a miniature railroad that circled the lake and park at the turn of the 20th Century, according to Lincoln Heights LA. But the Eastlake Park Scenic Railway lasted only a few years before its owner removed the train to Venice Beach in 1905.
