Police busy in Northeast L.A. today

Two separate incidents – the search and capture of a murder suspect and the pursuit of a stolen vehicle – triggered a lot of police activity this morning across Highland Park, El Sereno and Hermon.

KTLA has video of  the police chase of  a stolen vehicle that began near Figueroa Street and York Boulevard  and then traveled on the 110 Freeway before ending with the apprehension of a suspect in El Sereno.

Meanwhile, LAPD and FBI agents captured a homicide suspect who was reportedly hiding in a trash can, reports L.A. Now. The search began after the suspect ran into a tunnel after being spotted riding a bicycle in the Arroyo Seco near the 110 Freeway and Avenue 55. He was captured after residents called in to report a man running through their backyards.

Look at all of those empty streets. More road diets please!

    • OMG! CAN YOU BELIEVE THE TRAFFIC?! IT WAS HORRIFIC! HOW WAS IT POSSIBLE FOR ALL THOSE EMERGENCY VEHICLES TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE AREA??????!!!!!1111111111

SORRY I AM ALL CAPSING IT TODAY. THE CHURCH BELLS ON MY BLOCK HAVE MADE ME TONE DEAF.

  2. So the homeless camps actually do have a murder to their credit now, as I have long suspected since April. Repeated contacts to the city have resulted in no action nor communication.

Voters remember this inaction by the city when election time comes around. I have personally contacted the Mayors office, local city council and the Police. The police are the only ones who have gotten back to me saying the city has there hands tied.
Garcetti, Huizar , Cedillo remember this.

  3. The homeless camp off the 110 is not only an embarrassing eyesore …but a dangerous place as well…two weeks ago my friend was walking her dog nearby …when two very young inhabitants started a very aggressive plea for spare change….they were obviously intoxicated and not very pleasant….now there is a new encampment going up on silver lake blvd at the 101 ….again, a very young party type of inhabitant…the trash they leave behind is out of control…I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before something goes seriously wrong there as well…again, it’s not the older, small group I used to see there…it’s a very young, part type atmosphere that has taken over…there is even a Jolly Roger flag hoisted from one of the makeshift tents
