ECHO PARK —  The simple wood bench that popped up last October at the northwest corner of Echo Park and Scott avenues  has proven popular with passengers waiting at the DASH bus stop. It recently got a new coat of teal paint thanks to Astrid Agustin Conder, the young bench builder and painter. “She loves seeing people sitting on her bench,” said Astrid’s dad, Ramsey Conder.

  1. Thanks, Astrid!

  2. LA gets millions in ad revenue from bus shelters and we have little girls and their dads actually providing for the needs of transit riders. Something is not right here.

Same deal with meter revenue – some areas bring in the crowds and generate revenue from parking but never see the returns on that money being put back in to increase LAPD patrols, street cleaning, beautification, etc.

Good job dad and little girl, boo and hiss public agencies.

  3. Thank you, Astrid! Your bench and the pretty paint made me very happy!

  4. Girl power! Dad power! Thanks for caring for the community.

  5. Fantastic story!
I love hearing about people getting involved with their community to make a POSITIVE impact.
Kudos to Astrid and her parents.

  6. Sadly that bench had been tagged with a a nasty obscenity around three weeks ago. So I say thank you the Astrid and her Dad for repainting it! And also apologize for people that feel the need to tag up our beautiful neighborhood.

  7. I know these peeps, they are the good.

  8. what a cutie pie!
