Teen fatally stabbed with scissors outside East L.A. middle school [updated]


EAST LOS ANGELES – Authorities are looking for the suspect who used a pair of scissors to fatally stab a 14-year-old outside David Wark Griffith Junior High School in East Los Angeles this afternoon, reports KTLA.

The victim, who died after being transported to a hospital, was a student at nearby Garfield Senior High, school district officials told KTLA. The male suspect responsible for the attack might have been a fellow student. 

Anyone with information was asked to contacted LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Update:  Detectives, in a statement issued tonight, identified the victim as a 14-year-old Latino male. He was at Griffith Middle School for unknown reasons.  “While the victim was on campus, the suspect approached the victim, stabbed him in the chest, and fled the scene south on Fetterly Avenue.”  The suspect was described as a male Latino juvenile.
