  1. The days of the 710 extension need to die. We are living in a new era, not the era of 1950’s LA. We need to bury the idea of more freeways and seriously look at alternative transportation, whether that be commenters or harbor traffic. NO 710!

  3. The ROI on the 710 tunnel is a joke… Meanwhile, the federal highway trust fund is teetering on bankruptcy and we can’t even afford to maintain our existing infrastructure.

    Better to just paint some truck-only toll lanes on the existing freeways (710 to the 5, through LA) and let the freight bypass rush hour traffic… LA needs more rail lines instead. That actually increases adjacent property values.

  4. The only ones thirsty for the 710 tunnel are Alhambra area folks. No one in LA or Pasedena care for it.

  5. Well, the article says “The cheapest option would be to make the existing freeways and roads more efficient without major construction, the report says. That could include meters for on-ramps, synchronized traffic signals, and lanes that change direction during peak hours. Those options would cost about $105 million and take two years to complete, the report said.”
    Just do that, and use the rest of the funds for other upgrades and maintenance. Maintenance of what we already have is always forgotten in the rush to build something new.
