Power out in Echo Park [updated @ 7 pm]

ECHO PARK -- About 2,600 L.A. DWP customers in the Echo Park area have lost power this afternoon, according to an agency spokesman. The outage, first reported around 3:30 p.m., has disrupted electrical service to a wide swath of the neighborhood, ranging from Laguna Avenue near Echo Park Lake to Park Drive next to Elysian Park. MORNING REPORT: The man suspected of trying to rape a woman at knife-point outside of a Boyle Heights bar was arrested after he went to a hospital to be treated for bite marks the woman made as she fought off her attacker ... An estimated 500 shoppers - some who showed up as early as 4:30 a.m. - were in line when the Glassell Park Goodwill store opened on Sunday morning for a special sale of vintage clothing that has been donated over the past century
