KTLA is reporting that a 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with last October’s murder of two young women in Debs Park. The mother of the 17-year-old said her son was a friend of the victims but denied that he killed them.

Last November, police searched several homes in the area and detained a few persons but no arrests were made.

The bodies of 19-year-old Gabriela Calzada and 17-year-old Briana Gallegos were found on Oct. 28 in the southern edge of Debs Park near El Sereno.

The two women were friends. Calzada was preparing to begin a firefighting training program after once serving in juvenile hall. Briana Gallegos was a cheerleader at Sonia Sotomayor Learning Academies in Glassell Park.

  1. Thanks LAPD for your work on this sad murder case.
I wonder if any progress has been made on the bodies of the woman and man who were found in Tujunga wash?
