Woman raped in Lincoln Park restroom [updated]



LINCOLN HEIGHTS –– A woman was raped in a Lincoln Park restroom Monday afternoon, police said.

The victim was in the park at about noon when a man attacked and raped her, said Liliana Preciado with LAPD media relations.

According to a CBS 2 report, the woman waited for hours to report the crime. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for assault and rape.

The suspect was described as a Latino male between 25 and 30-years-old and remains at large, according to CBS 2.

Updated @ 3:50 p.m.:  An alleged gang member who had just been released from jail was arrested in connection with the rape, reports CBS 2.

  1. That $833,000 that got spent on the parking lot at Plaza de la Raza is looking like an *excellent* investment of public money. Keeping the bathrooms broken, poorly lit, occupied by homeless people living in some of the stalls, etc. was a good public policy move. The stabbings, shootings, and other crime in the area – who cares, right? We got a place to park 39 cars!
