EAGLE ROCK — The 134 Freeway was shut down in Eagle Rock this morning after a police vehicle was hit by gunfire near Figueroa Street and Eagle Vista Drive, the LAPD said. No officers were injured and they did not return fire, said department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman.

Update: The CHP reported that all lanes had reopened shortly after 11 a.m.

Police believe the shots were fired from the freeway at the LAPD vehicle, which was hit at least once by gunfire, reports the L.A. Times.  The area near the shooting, which was reported at 3:45 a.m.,  has been sealed off as police conduct a search, said Eisenman.

This is a developing story based on preliminary information and is subject to change.
