- Tuesday’s victory of Donald J. Trump prompted another day of protests and student walkouts on Thursday. In Downtown L.A., 185 demonstrators were arrested, and L.A. Unified said that about 4,000 students walked out of classes (school is closed today for Veterans Day). The walkouts included students from Marshall High in Los Feliz, Eagle Rock High, Franklin High in Highland Park and Bravo Medical Magnet in Boyle Heights. Traffic was tied up on the 10 Freeway near Cal State L.A. after demonstrators ran into traffic lanes but CHP said they were able to divert the protesters out of the freeway without incident. Readers reported that anti-Trump student demonstrators blocked traffic on Hyperion Avenue in Silver Lake and pounded on a news van in Highland Park.
