Man surrenders to police after standoff at Eagle Rock sandwich shop

Jersey Mike's Eagle Rock

EAGLE ROCK — Officers negotiated the surrender of a man who tried to stab employees at a Jersey Mike’s Subs shop early Sunday night.

Officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at about 5:30 p.m. at Jersey Mike’s Subs at 2601 Colorado Boulevard. A white male, who said he was being chased, had entered the sandwich shop, went behind the counter and grabbed a knife and some scissors, said Sgt. Juan Campos with LAPD’s Northeast Division.

The suspect frightened the employees, who ran out of the sandwich shop and locked the suspect in after he tried to stab them, said Campos.

The suspect surrendered to officers after about 90 minutes. No injuries were reported at the scene.
