Eagle Rock shooting leaves juvenile injured

EAGLE ROCK — Police tonight are looking for a suspect in the shooting of a male juvenile near the Yosemite Recreation Center in what is believed to be a gang-related crime.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition following the shooting, which took place at about 6:20 p.m. near Yosemite Drive and La Roda Avenue, said LAPD spokeswoman Liliana Preciado.

The suspect, also a male juvenile, remains at large, prompting a search across the area.

A resident said she saw paramedics providing assistance inside the recreation center gym before the victim was wheeled out of the building and into an ambulance.  “The victim appeared to be young and clean cut wearing gym clothing,” she said in an email.

Occidental College issued a text alert to students and staff warning them to keep building doors closed as police searched for a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and pants in the area north of the campus.
