Woman wounded by gunfire in Echo Park

Woman wounded in 1300 block of Allesandro Street

ECHO PARK — A woman was struck by gunfire Friday night along the 1300 block of Allesandro Street. Her injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The victim told police she was was outside walking when she heard gunfire and was struck at about 9 pm, according to an LAPD spokesperson. The shots apparently came from two Latino males in a passing vehicle, police said.

The shooting is not considered gang related, and the shots may not necessarily have been meant for her, police said.

Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital, where she is in fair condition.

  1. Per LAPD it was probably not gang related, yet the shots may not have been intended for the woman who was hit. Why then were two men shooting from a car? I hope we learn more about this.

We not infrequently hear gunshots in Echo Park but I’ve given up on calling the non-emergency police line because nothing will be done unless the caller knows the location from which shots were fired!

Very glad the woman was not hurt badly, but what a shame not to be able to walk outside on a warm evening without shots being fired at one for no known reason.

  2. I heard it from Lake shore & Montana… didn’t seem “random” to me, 4 shots
