Lasagna Cupcakes now starring in former Cypress Park movie house

CYPRESS PARK — The people behind the Heirloom LA, the catering company known for its Lasagna Cupcakes, have opened a new restaurant, Yolk & Flour, in the former Fox Arroyo Theatre on Figueroa. But neighborhood foodies will have to plan their visits carefully — York & Flour is open only on Fridays for now as a popup restaurant.

Heirloom posted some details about the new place:

“We have a new space, open to everyone right now on Fridays from 11-7. Come [mid-May], we will be open more regularly, but for now come dine-in, take-out, and get some of our vegetable intensive menu. Yes, we serve meat, but we mostly serve vegetables …. And of course we always have our signature dish, Lasagna Cupcakes™ on hand, hot or frozen for you to heat up at home.”

The 963-seat movie house opened in 1929 but has been closed since the 1950s, according to Cinema Treasures. Since it’s closure, the movie house has been used as a warehouse and part of it was converted in restaurant space and most recently housed a pizzeria.

Yolk & Flour is located at 3232 1/2 Figueroa.
