Morning Report

  • The city took a step to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day on Oct. 2 over the objections of Italian-Americans. After a lengthy Wednesday night meeting, the City Council’s Rules, Elections, Intergovernmental & Neighborhoods Committee voted unanimously in favor of the change proposed by 13th District Councilman Mitch O’Farrell, a member of Wyandotte Native American tribe. The measure now goes to the full City Council for a vote. L.A. Times
  • It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish a Lincoln Heights blaze that broke out Wednesday night in the back of a home in the 3600 block of N. Broadway. No injuries were reported. LAFD
