- An hours-long standoff between police and a man inside a home in the 3000 block of Silver Lake Boulevard in Atwater Village ended without incident this morning. Police did not arrest the man who had refused to come out of the residence. My News LA
- The LAFD said that a fuel fire broke out in the L.A. River on Monday afternoon near Cesar Chavez Avenue and Mission Road. Smoke from the fire was visible across Downtown and the Eastside but the blaze burned itself out in about 20 minutes, said the L.A. Times.
- Artnet describes how Echo Park resident Mihai Nicodim, a Romanian immigrant, established himself on the L.A. gallery scene by showcasing artists from Eastern Europe. His Boyle Heights gallery has also been in the news recently after being targeted by groups opposed to gentrification.
