EAST LOS ANGELES — The L.A. County Sheriff’s SWAT team has been called in during a standoff this morning with an armed suspect in the 3600 block of Floral Drive.

LASD says the residents from surrounding homes have been evacuated and crisis negotiators are also on the scene to try and negotiate with the barricaded suspect.

NBC4 says the suspect was involved in a home invasion robbery.

Update @ 12:39 pm:  The suspect was found dead when deputies gained entry into the home, LASD said on Twitter. The crime scene is now being handled by homicide detective and Floral Drive remains shut down.

KTLA reports that one of residents who lived in the home armed himself with a gun and fired the weapon during a struggle with the suspect. Two other residents who fled the home were injured.
