GLASSELL PARK – The opening shot of Børns’ new “Faded Heart” video should look familiar to those living in this neighborhood. It’s the Triangle Motel on Eagle Rock Boulevard, a longtime fixture Glassell Park.
It’s also the target of mixed reviews on Yelp, and the site of a gang-related shooting death in 1990.
But the place’s past seems be part of why it ended up in a video. The singer/songwriter Børns (aka Garrett Borns) told Vogue magazine that he’s been driving by there at night, fixating on the classic neon sign that pokes above the one-story motel.
“I loved the mystique of it, and I wanted to use it in something,” he told the magazine.
The rest of the video is a melange of quirkiness, seaminess, beach sunsets and skeleton puppets. So … yeah. The Triangle Motel is a good pick. See for yourself in the video below.

I know that motel. It used to be a great shortcut to go threw his parking lot when the traffic backed up on Verdugo Rd. Because of the idiot drivers refusal to make a right turn on a red light to Eagle Rock Blvd. The owner closed the Verdugo gate running my fun.
