In Silver Lake, new shop to serve up scoops of “throwback ice cream”

Butter’s Ice Cream will open up in this Sunset Boulevard strip mall

SILVER LAKE – What exactly is “throwback ice cream”? According to Eater LA, Eastsiders will find out this fall with the coming of Butter’s Ice Cream in Silver Lake.

Our only hints so far on the “throwback” concept: Eater says flavors will be “less unique, farm-driven flavors and more classic stuff,” and that they will pay homage to the fashion of the late ’80s early ’90s. Butters Ice Cream’s own web sites promise small-batch, organic and vegan ice creams.

Construction of the new shop is currently underway right next to Silverlake Ramen. Expect Butter’s Ice Cream to open this fall. Butter’s Ice Cream will be located in the 2900 block of Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.

    • rewind 20 years please

Oh i forgot. The new owners of this place must have overlooked the 3 new well established and popular ice cream “artisinal” shops within 3 miles. Lets see, We got “Milk” “Magpies”and “Wanderlust” and “Scoops”. Maybe they plan to sell candy! oh my.

  2. “Throwback” ice cream? They mean #MAGA ice cream, right?

  3. Another “hipster clickbait” article from the Eastsider. Restaurants open up every day in NELA but the Eastsider will only cover hipster places so they can put things in quotes like “throwback ice cream”. They only do this to drive up clicks since their reader base loves to hate hipster joints. Ignores every other place. This is what passes for “journalism” in 2017.
