BOYLE HEIGHTS — More than 8,000 LADWP customers lost power this afternoon as the agency dispatched crews to restore service and repair an “overloaded station.”
The number of customers without electrical service had dropped to about 3,200 by about 5 pm., according to the agency’s outage information page. But full service may not be restored until 10:30 pm.
Today’s outage comes after more than 3,000 LADWP customers lost power for about three hours on Tuesday afternoon as a heat wave sent temperatures soaring.
Twitter users began to report a loss of power at about 3 pm. There were reports of outages near 7th and Lorena streets south of Evergreen Cemetery.
There were also reports of traffic signals going out at some intersections and of power going on and off over the afternoon, according to Twitter users.
Update: The LADWP on Twitter said that all service had been restored as of 6:10 am on Thursday, Aug. 31 after crews installed high-voltage mobile equipment.
