A new green spot on Riverside Drive

Elysian Valley landscaped median on Riverside Drive

ELYSIAN VALLEY —  It took about 10 years to create but a landscaped median on Riverside Drive between the 5 Freeway and Gail Street was dedicated last week.  Residents and 13th District Councilman Mitch O’Farrell were on  hand to spread mulch around the plants and trees on what once had been a barren strip of asphalt.  The council office worked with the L.A. Conservation Corps to create the median and install the plants and irrigation system.

Still in the works is a “welcome” marker to Elysian Valley.

  1. It’s cute. We need more trees in medians! Thanks Mitch….
(But ten years? wow. No wonder we don’t have more of these)

    • Pretty sick that it took 10 years to throw down some dirty and some plants. Of course, this started when Mayor Garcetti was City Councilmember in Council District 13. Blame the mayor for projects that took forever and the over development and downright ulgyness of Hollywood.
