The L.A. Times spends time with longtime Echo Park resident and designer Beatrice Valenzuela. After co-founding the Echo Park Craft Fair and a line of of popular sandals, Valenzuela last year launched a ready-to-wear women’s line that features “undeniably feminine and party-ready” dressed and floral, Mexican-type prints inspired by her heritage.

A revamped menu is underway in celebration of Civil Coffee’s two-year anniversary of its brick and mortar coffee shop in Highland Park, the company said. The anniversary event happens on Sat., November 18 and features free coffee, tacos and giveaways. Civil Coffee is located in 5600 block of Figueroa Street in Highland Park.
Creatures of Comfort has landed in Silver Lake, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Previously located on the 7900 block of Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, COC’s creative director Jade Lai made the move to the Eastside because, “most of our people have moved east…” Who exactly are their people? Think Amy Poehler and Jenny Slate, who are some of the shop’s biggest celebrity fans. Creatures of Comfort takes over the Reform School space in the 3900 block of Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.
