Bob Baker Marionette Theatre to close for 2 years; Red Flag parking restrictions in place; L.A. Unified students develop a taste for vegan meals

Puppet Palace: The Bob Baker Marionette Theatre will close in 2018 for two years as construction begins on a large apartment complex that will replace the venue on the southern edge of Echo Park. While the developer did not initially include space for a theater, the most recent plans for the 104-unit apartment building include a small museum and workshop spaces for the theater. Downtown News

Move That Car:  The L.A. Fire Department has imposed Red Flag parking restrictions  today, Tuesday,  Dec. 5,  as windy, dry weather is forecast this week. Beginning at 8 a.m., all vehicles parked illegally in posted locations will be subject to towing for at least 24 hours. The LAFD will re-evaluate weather conditions to determine if the Red Flag Alert will be extended. Go here to find out if you live in a Red Flag Zone.

Vegan Menu:  L.A. Unified might introduce vegan menu items at all of its campuses based on the results of a pilot program at Roosevelt High in Boyle Heights and several other schools. On some days the vegan lunch option is ordered by more than half the students. L.A. School Report
