New owners but the same old Black Boar in Eagle Rock

EAGLE ROCK – A new company has taken over the Black Boar on Colorado Boulevard. But, despite the change of ownership, Eater LA says to expect  basically no change.

That’s because the new owners – the Artisanal Brewers Collective – happen to like just this kind of place: an unassuming neighborhood taverns with solid bar food. The Black Boar is a British-style pub, so it should fit in well with other ABC acquisitions such as The Stalking Horse in West L.A. and Beelman’s downtown. The same company has operates Mohawk Bend in Echo Park.

And Eater LA notes that, unlike with Beelman’s, ABC doesn’t plan to make the Black Boar go fully vegan. But new craft beers may be on their way.

While the Black Boar has a ye-olde-tyme look it was opened in 2009 by people connected to Downtown’s Library Bar and the Griffin in Atwater Village.

Black Boar is at 1630 Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock.
