Campaign Cash: More than $650,000 in independent expenditures have poured into the 51st Assembly District race since the Oct. 3 primary, according to the most recent figures compiled by the Secretary of State. These are monies raised outside of the candidates’ campaigns. The majority of these funds have been used to support Wendy Carrillo, who will face off against Luis Lopez in the Dec. 5 runoff election. More than $500,000 in the independent expenditures in support of Carrillo has come from groups financed primarily by unions, reports the L.A. Times.

Car Wreck: A crash in Echo Park on Sunday night left a car upside on Sunset Boulevard near Laveta Terrace, according to an Eastsider reader who sent in a photo. No word on injuries or what caused the crash.
