Celebrity Smooching: A “shocked onlooker” told Wonderwall that pop star Katy Perry was seen “locking lips” and “making out” with actor Robert Pattinson during a late-night dinner at Taix French Restaurant in Echo Park.
All-Star: The Dodgers are apparently in the running to host the 2020 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and related events during All-Star Week. It would be the first time the ballpark hosted the All-Star match since 1980. There been no official decision yet but the team is getting things in order if it ends up hosting the prominent and lucrative sporting event. Last week. 1st District Councilman Gil Cedillo introduced a motion saying that the Dodgers have agreed to pay $100,000 to cover the cost of additional services — such as law enforcement and traffic management– that the city would provide during All-Star Week. The motion does not say how much cost that city would actually incur but notes that the week-long event has typically provided a $90 million economic boost to host city thanks to fan spending. The City Council must approve the deal.
Shows and Sandwiches: Trencher, an Echo Park sandwich shop on Portia Street near Sunset Boulevard, wants to start serving beer and wine as well as hosting live entertainment. But the change is subject to city approval, and residents will be able to weigh in during a public hearing scheduled for Jan. 30.
