HISTORIC FILIPINOTOWN — A 41-year-old man was killed late Friday afternoon when his scooter collided with a car on Beverly Boulevard at Rosemont Avenue, police said.
The victim, described as a white male, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the car remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
Here’s a description of the crash from the LAPD Central Traffic Division:
“On January 19, 2018, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a fatal vehicle vs. motorized scooter traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Beverly Blvd and Rosemont Avenue in Rampart Area. The collision occurred when the driver of a 2004 Toyota Avalon was making a left turn from eastbound Beverly Blvd to northbound Rosemont Avenue. The scooter, a 2009 Kymco RS, was westbound on Beverly Blvd. The rider of the scooter was unable to stop in time and was struck by the Toyota Avalon. He suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department. He is described as a male, White, 41 years old. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.”
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
