Crash: A man standing next to his SUV on the shoulder of a freeway transition road was struck and killed in a crash Friday morning. Joseph Francisco Chang was hit on a ramp connecting the westbound 134 to the northbound 2 near Eagle Rock. Daily News

Speech Contest: Andrew Charroux, a junior at John Marshall High School, was the winner of the American Legion Allied Post 302 Oratorical Contest, which was held at Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services in Highland Park. Charroux received a $200 scholarship for a speech titled The Fourth Branch of Government: The People.
