Eagle Rock’s Piencone offers a grown-up pizza party – with ice cream and cocktails

Piencone in Eagle Rock

EAGLE ROCK – Pizza and ice cream – two of the things you loved as a kid, but kind of artisan and high-end. Plus booze. That’s the menu at Piencone Pizzeria, Creamery & Pub, which  is scheduled to open this week.

Piencone (think pie-‘n’-cone) occupies the spot on Colorado Boulevard where the Coffee Table cafe did business for 20 years. The new restaurant comes to us care of Michelle and Corey Wilton, the pair behind Four Café in Eagle Rock, and bar manager/partner Herb Gualpa.

A company press release promises small plates, a rotating selection of six ice cream flavors, beer and cocktails, and wood-fired pizzas made from an organic, whole grain sourdough.  “We are so excited to heat up the pizza oven, scoop some ice cream and kick back with a beer with our Eagle Rock neighbors,” said Michelle Wilton.

Piencone is at 1958 Colorado Blvd. at Shearin Ave. in Eagle Rock.

  1. Went last night. Place was packed. The service is great, the appetizers and pizzas were tremendous. The ice cream was pretty good, but sort of icy, not as smooth as it could be, and at the least the sesame caramel could have had more flavor (think: the burnt caramel at Sweet Rose). The waffle cone was delicious. This place is going to be a hit either way, but I really hope they up their ice cream game so it’s on par with Jenis or McConnells.

  2. we went last night — super busy, but they seemed to absorb the opening night influx with grace. the manager was pitching in and was our waiter for the night, and did a great job.

really like how they transition from ordering at the counter during the day, to table service at night. a nice development that i hope other “fast casual” places adopt.

the bar seems to be first come first served seating, and has a lot of booths in there. bartenders wait on the tables, at least that’s what i saw last night.

a great addition to the neighborhood!

  3. Stupid….. Just what that block needs another pizza place. From the looks of the pie’s I give it 10 months max.

  4. They took out the art deco chevrons and painted everything white. Blah

  5. I miss the resteraunt it was before much cooler
