ECHO PARK -- A new set of stop signs at Morton Avenue and Academy Road surprised some motorists today, with a few drivers blowing past the newly installed signs or coming to an abrupt halt. The intersection already had stop signs for those drivers heading downhill on Academy and Morton Place.
ECHO PARK -- Police are seeking suspects in the Sunday morning slaying of a 35-year-old man who was the victim of a drive-by shooting. The victim, described as a male Latino was shot at about 8:30 a.m. as he was standing on the sidewalk in the 300 block Douglas Street.
ECHO PARK -- The church founded by legendary evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson is getting out of the Echo Park real estate business, putting up for sale a large collection of apartments, vacant lots, commercial buildings and homes near Echo Park Lake. The asking price for the properties owned by the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel was not disclosed.

ECHO PARK -- An armed man held up a 7-Eleven last night, making off with about $400 in cash while customers were inside the Glendale Boulevard convenience store, police said. The robbery took place just before midnight, said Detective Joe Rios with the Northeast Division.
ECHO PARK -- No mossy green or pastel peach for the Blackbird project. Painters have begun to spray on a coat of black paint on the townhouses that are expected to go on sale soon. But that black paint is not your common shade of black. It's a custom color designed by project architect Barbara Bestor, said developer Casey Lynch.
