Buck 65 started DJing and rapping when he was approximately 13 years of age. In 1990, he shared his work with the public for the first time. Since then, he has released more than 20 full-length albums and all kinds of EPs, singles and whatnot. He has also scored a handful of films (including one x-rated feature). He has recorded with Tortoise (post-rock muscular geniuses), Gonzales (the world’s greatest living musician), Sage Francis (indie hip hop overlord), Olivia Ruiz (kind of a big deal in France) and god-knows-who-else. Name an important festival or event and there’s a good 70% chance he’s played it.

The Big Sleep w/ Blonde Summer | Silver Lake
“The Big Sleep is a New York City-based three-piece. It’s just drums, guitar, and bass, but oh how the members put it all together-and their music doesn’t sound like Mogwai, Russian Circles, or Godspeed You Black Emperor. They pick up where the Verve could have gone with the wig-outs on its first two records, or where shoegazers like Slowdive only hinted at going. Throw in some heavy riffs and layers of My Bloody Valentine-drizzled haze, and that’s the sound of the Big Sleep’s take on (mostly) instrumental songs.”- Prefix Magazine. Listen. More details.

The Jealous Sound | Silver Lake
“Now, out of nowhere, they’ve delivered their sophomore full-length, A Gentle Reminder, and while it might not be worth the nine-year wait it’s had to endure, it is pretty much exactly what should be expected from Shehan & Co.: extremely nuanced, deliberately paced pop-rock that never takes the easy way out with a simple chorus or basic chord progression.” – Alternative Press
