Silver Lake is still in the gang

It’s hard to imagine that the same neighborhood where you can buy $6 homemade dog biscuits and live in a million dollar hillside home can still be troubled with serious gang problems. But a large portion of Silver Lake will be covered by a proposed gang injunction aimed at the Temple Street Gang, reports the Garment Citizen.

“The request for the injunction comes as members of several of the other gangs have recently made public displays of what appears to be some ongoing dispute, with various graffiti markings emblazoned on buildings in the area and sometimes cross out by rivals—an act that is sometimes a signal of heightening tensions between or among the illicit enterprises.

The gang, which was founded in 1923, is based in the Rampart District but it’s turf extends north of Sunset Boulevard.
