Give me your money or your bacon-wrapped hot dog *

Have the robbers who struck Echo Park and Silver Lake in recent weeks developed a taste for hot dogs? An email sent out Saturday night by the head of security for The Echo nightclub in Echo Park said that two men with a gun in their car drove up to a sidewalk vendor near the club and demanded money. The vendor said he had none but offered them him his last hot dog, which they took, according to the email posted on the Echo Elysian Forum.

But Leonel Ledezma, general manager of the Sunset Boulevard club, said it’s not clear exactly what happened. The vendor, named Jose, said he “thinks he saw” a gun and has not reported the crime to police, said Ledezma, who spoke to the vendor today. Ledezma said The Echo is taking the recent assaults seriously but he expressed doubts about the hot dog robbery as rumors of crime swirl through the neighborhood. “The whole thing gets blown out of proportion,” he said.

The only thing Ledezma is sure about is the quality of Jose’s hot dogs: “They are pretty good.”

  1. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks
