Arsonist strikes in Elysian Park *

The brush fire that burned about three acres Saturday night on the western edge of Elysian Park was the work of an arsonist, the Los Angeles Times is reporting. The blaze was located near another small fire that hit the park late last month. A third fire in the brush covered hills near Dodger Stadium Stadium started during an April 30 baseball game.

Park rangers have recently begun extra patrols of because the dry conditions and recent fires in the approximately 575-acre park, said Christine Peters, President of the Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park.
