Ignoring Echo Park’s ruling class

A few days after Councilman Eric Garcetti’s office said it would crack down on illegal car shows in Elysian Park and illegal vending in Echo Park, this is what happened: More than a hundred bikers rolled into Elysian Park on Saturday, barricading off access to a public parking lot for an afternoon biker barbecue and picnic (pictured above). On Sunday, vendors sold their wares on the north edge of Echo Park in front of signs reading: “No vending, sales or advertising on public property.”
