When comments get out of control

It’s always refreshing to discover a reader who has no qualms about using their full name in a comment or a story. That was the case on Friday when The Eastsider posted a request from an Echo Park resident who was curious about all the gang tagging in the Memorial Grove section of Elysian Park. Well, today, Beth in an email asked that her full name be withdrawn after she received an unsettling phone call at home. Not from a gang member. But from a neighbor.

“I asked Jesus to remove my full name after someone who disagreed with me called my house and really freaked me out,” she explained in a comment.

Some of the comments that contained Beth’s full name have also been removed. The Eastsider believes you should be prepared to take the heat, or credit, for your words and opinions. But no one should have to feel threatened.
