Dear Eastsider: I may never again go to the Edendale post office

The stories of rudeness on the part of workers, as well as many patrons, at the Edendale post office have left many Echo Park and Silver Lake residents to travel to post offices in Atwater, Glassell Park and even Pasadena. Gloria Sohacki of Echo Park wants to remain an Edendale customer but is having serious second thoughts after yet another unpleasant encounter with the same postal worker:

“I cannot remember his name but on occasion, he has propositioned me, left for lunch while I was at the window, thrown papers at me and has just been down right nasty. He was not there when I arrived at 8:45 am [ on a recent visit] but the line was long. I had to wait. He appeared at 9 am at his window and had the Sports section in his hand and was moving papers around until he decided to open his window. He quickly told me I had to fill out a specific form and slammed the form down on the counter. So I scooted over to fill out the form. A man with a large package was next. Well, the employee took his large package and threw it down. The employee walked away while [other customers] in line agreed that the employee was nasty. The manager came out after the customer screamed loudly.

Maybe the Post Office should offer him an early retirement. I dread going to the post office now. In fact I think I will not ever go to his window again. I just wonder if anyone else feels the same as I feel. I looked on line to find a contact for the post office but did not find one just for Edendale. Thanx.”
