The water in the Silver Lake Reservoir is not only used for drinking

It also helps fight fires. On Tuesday afternoon, water dropping Sikorski helicopters extended their snorkel hoses to suck up water from the north end of the reservoir before flying off to the scene of Glendale fire near the 134 and 2 freeways. The company’s Firehawk can transport about 1,000 gallons of water, according to the company.
