That’s a lot of butts

This is just one of the many bags of cigarette butts collected this morning around Echo Park Lake as part of Coastal Clean Up Day. A total 5,680 butts were collected, breaking last year’s total of 5,017, said David Bermudez with Central City Action Committee. A cigarette butt count was written on each bag to keep track of the results. If you think the job of collecting and counting cigarette butts is a dirty business, then you should have gone to Elysian Park, where the Elysian Park Pooper Troupers were at work this morning picking up after dogs with careless masters. Pitty the Pooper Trouper who got stuck tabulating the results.
