Libraries to close Friday mornings: The Los Angeles Public Library will cut back operating hours at 72 branches starting Friday, December 11. The libraries will now open at 1:30 PM instead of 10 AM on Fridays, under a schedule posted Wednesday. The Eastsider reported last week that library officials were looking at shorter hours in the wake of mounting financial pressures.
