Soggy Santa Watch: It is supposed to rain off-and-on all weekend, threatening a number of Eastside holiday parades and outdoor events. Still, with the exception of a Saturday community clean up in Historic Filipinotown (because the only thing worse than picking up trash, is picking up wet trash), the organizers of other events say their shows will go on “rain or shine.” That includes the Echo Park Community Parade and the Festival of Lights in Silver Lake. Tonight’s Glassell Park Holiday Tree Lighting is still a go but an extra large canopy has been ordered just in case. Meanwhile, the organizers of the Lincoln Heights Christmas Parade have issued an edict: “Rain is forbidden this Sunday. Spread the word.”
