Echo Park taco truck update: Earlier this year Tacos Arizas – a fixture of Echo Park’s taco truck scene – agreed to move one block away from Jensen’s Recreation Center after residents who lived in the Sunset Boulevard building complained about late-night noise and trash. So far, Arizas has lived up to the voluntary deal – negotiated by the office of Councilman Eric Garcetti – by parking on Logan Street, half a block north of Sunset Boulevard and away from Jensen’s and other residences. But that deal, however, does not apply to other trucks.

As some residents had feared, a rival taco truck not covered by the agreement has begun parking on Sunset Boulevard at Logan – right across the street from the Jensen apartment dwellers. Then, last week, Jensen residents found another food truck parked right under the windows of their apartments. This, truck, however was not selling tacos. It was serving up grilled cheese sandwiches. Looks like it’s time to expand the taco truck treaty to include other foods.
