Eastside Shopper & Diner

Even taco trucks are scarce on Christmas Day. But anyone who is hungry on the holiday and is not in the mood to cook can still find a few Eastside restaurants and cafes that are open on December 25. Click on the link below to find what restaurants are cooking up samosa or chilaquiles on Christmas Day.

Open those presents early and then head over to Madame Matisse in Silver Lake for breakfast or brunch. (9 am to 2:30 pm)

Casbah Cafe in Silver Lake will be open but might close a bit early.

Mexican seafood on the menu at Mariscos El Kora De Nayarit in El Sereno (open until 8 pm)

A Coconut Mocha will put you in a holiday mood at Swork in Eagle Rock (open until 2 pm)

Brite Spot in Echo Park opens at 9 am until the late afternoon, maybe longer.

Not exactly in the Eastside but where else can you get better garlic chicken on Christmas Day than at Zankou Chicken Hollywood (10 am to 8 pm)

Huarache Azteca in Highland Park, open all day.

Rodeo Mexican Grill in Echo Park and Lincoln Heights open 8 am to 9 pm.

Santa loves samosas: India Sweets & Spices open regular hours in Atwater.

Celebrate at Cemitas Poblanas Elvirita in East LA (10 am – 7 pm)

Blow that Christmas bonus for a Christmas Dinner (and breakfast, all day) at Pacific Dining Car.

Pancakes and more pancakes at the Cypress Park IHOP.

Chilaquiles on Christmas? Why not at Tamales Liliana’s in East LA (8 am – 6 pm).

Best to call first in case the cooks decide to take the day off after all.
