New Year, new vandalism in Echo Park*

It looks like New Year’s Eve came and went without a repeat of all the tagging that appeared on Echo Park Avenue a week earlier on Christmas. However, one block west of Echo Park Avenue, vandals threw rocks as well as trash cans at a car parked on Baxter Street as the vehicle owner looked on, reports a resident who spoke to the vehicle owner:

“Wanted to pass on that there was some New Year’s Eve vandalism
– apparently a group of young men tossed trash cans down the steps to Baxter at the end of Preston Ave and then threw some very large rocks down at a sportscar parked at the bottom of the stairs. The car was pretty trashed (dented, broken windshield, etc). The owner of the car … hollered at them but was unable to give chase up the stairs. He said he called[Northeast LAPD] station but they told him they were couldn’t send anyone out. This was around 3am on New Year’s eve.”

*Update: While Echo Park Avenue might have escaped from tagging, many trees in Elysian Park, however, were defaced during the New Year’s holiday, according to a resident who submitted the photo at right.
