Did crime strike again for Councilman Eric Garcetti?

A year ago Councilman Eric Garcetti reported that his wallet was stolen after his car was broken into late last year while parked outside his home in the Elysian Heights section of Echo Park. This past holiday, Elysian Heights residents suffered through a wave of vandalism (pictured) against cars, homes and even a Dash bus that prompted police to ask for help. Was Garcetti one of the victims? Fellow Echo Park resident and newspaper publisher Jerry Sullivan says that might be the case in an item titled “GARCETTI GETS IT, TOO” in the most recent issue of The Garment Citizen:

“Word on the street has 13th District Councilmember Eric Garcetti among the victims. No ill wishes toward Garcetti, but it’s a safe bet that a call from a City Councilmember will get the immediate attention of LAPD in such matters … ”

That item did not say what kind of vandalism Garcetti might have suffered. Julie Wong, spokeswoman for Garcetti, said in an email that “we will not have a comment.”
