Police arrest cell phone robbery suspects in Highland Park

Three suspected gang members – including one juvenile – were arrested Thursday afternoon in Highland Park in connection with several street robberies in which cell phones, iPods and other items were taken. The suspects were arrested shortly after a person was robbed near Aladama Street and Avenue 50, said Lt. John Cook of the LAPD Northeast Division. The victim’s description of the suspects matched those of people police say are responsible for two other recent robberies.

One Highland Park resident who was picking up her children at a nearby day care center found herself in the middle of the arrests.

“I ran into that arrest when i was picking up my kiddo from his day care off Aldama yesterday,” said the woman via email. “Three police cars screeched to a halt in front of me and pulled out their guns. Yikes!”
