Man found dead on Silver Lake street

Police launched a door-to-door investigation in Silver Lake tonight after finding the body of a dead man in the 1100 block of Manzanita Street near Sunset Junction in Silver Lake. Sgt Sanford Rosenberg with the LAPD Northeast Division said detectives were still trying to piece together what lead to the death of the man, who was described as a Latino in his 30s. Police arrived on the scene a little after 7 PM following calls of a man lying in the street, Rosenberg said. “It’s a mystery right now,” said Rosenberg, adding that police had not identified any suspects or witnesses.

Rosenberg said he was not aware of any reports of a shooting on the street. A Twitter user identified as Jeff Nichols who lives near the scene said “no gunshots heard around here.”

Residents watching the 10 PM edition of Fox11 News said the victim has been shot in the head but that could not be confirmed. “We had to keep skyfox picture rather wide cause this body wasn’t completely covered….trying not to be too gruesome,” said Fox producer Cheryl Carson in a Twitter post.
