You have to be an early birder to get a parking space at Echo Park Lake

The ever expanding swap meet at Echo Park Lake and regular Sunday morning church services have apparently created a parking space crunch as an Echo Park bird watching group discovered this weekend. In a post on the Echo Elysian Forum, Echo Park bird watcher Judy Raskin arrived at the lake Sunday morning and found plenty of birds but no parking:

“I arrived at the lake this morning at about 8:40 am Sunday morning because I was leading a bird walk. The vendors had already established a beachhead, starting at the corner of Glendale Blvd. and Park Ave, and circling around the north end of the park, and continuing up to the restrooms (near the boathouse) at Echo Park Ave. and Laguna. Ave. Parking was simply not available and I had to circle the area twice before finally squeezing into a spot on EP Avenue close to Bellevue … I wonder what time the vendors arrive — 7:00 am maybe?”
