Save the Date for Test-Fest 2010 & bouncing virus balls

HIV is serious business. But the organizers of this Saturday’s Test-Fest 2010 in East Los Angeles – billed as “Southern California’s largest HIV-testing event” – want to use some fun to attract a crowd. In addition to 10 HIV mobile testing vans and classes, Saturday’s event at Ruben Salazar Park includes live music, free food, video games for the kids and six-foot high inflatable HIV virus balls (pictured above). The carnival-like atmosphere seems to work, said Calvin Flemming with Test Fest. Last year’s event in South Los Angeles attracted 3,000 people, 200 of whom got tested. If you don’t want to be around bouncing virus balls, check out Save the Date for other events.
